Brachythecium glareosum Streaky Feather-moss

A rather elegant, slender, dioicous, pleurocarpous moss of well-drained, calcareous ground. It has a scattered distribution in Britain and is probably under recorded. It can be confused with other Brachythecium species and Homalothecium species, but the prostrate, yellow-green shoots and the drawn out tips to the leaves which have twisted ends, give it a distinctive look. It rarely produces capsules. In West Glamorgan, it has a scattered distribution on limestone along the south Gower coast, but it is also found inland in Neath Port Talbot along forest roads that have been dressed with limestone gravel.
