Colutea arborescens Bladder-senna

A deciduous, leguminous shrub with bright yellow flowers, native to southern Europe and introduced to Britain in the 16th Century where it has been grown in large gardens and parks. It is widely naturalised in southern Britain largely as a garden escape that has spread by seed along railways. It is occasional in waste places and sometimes planted on coal spoil. There are few records of it in West Glamorgan. The hybrid Orange Bladder-senna (Colutea x media) is similar but has orange flowers and may be frequently confused with it.
