Coreopsis grandiflora Large-flowered Tickseed

A native of eastern North America introduced to Britain in 1826 and commonly grown in gardens. It is a short lived perennial which occurs naturaised almost always as a garden escape or a throw-out and rarely persists for more than 2 or 3 years. The large, attractive yellow florets in the composite heads have jagged tips and often a dark blotch at their base. It is rarely recorded naturalised in Britain and there is only one record in West Glamorgan, from near Swansea
