Schreb.
A perennial willowherb of wet places such as marshes, ditches, stream borders, canal sides and damp woodland edges. It is easily confused with other similar species that have club-shaped (unlobed) stigmas and alternate, narrow leaves, but the comparatively short fruits are fairly distinctive. Another key feature, which will distinguish it from American Willowherb (Epilobium ciliatum), is the appressed hairs (and lack of glandular hairs) on the calyx and hypanthium. It has a widespread distribution throughout Britain and Ireland and it is common in Wales. It is widespread in suitable habitats in West Glamorgan, but most common in the South Wales Coalfield.
