Epilobium roseum Pale Willowherb

Helyglys Blodeugoes

Schreb.

A perennial willowherb which grows in disturbed habitats such as gardens and pavements, particularly in urban areas, but also in damp habitats along streams and canals.. Some of its most distinctive features include the leaves which have obvious stalks and prominently sunken veins on the upper surface. The flowers are small, pale pink or almost white, with notched petals and club-shaped stigmas.  It has a mostly southern and lowland distribution in Britain where it is uncommon in much of Wales and it is scarce in Ireland. It is largely an urban species in West Glamorgan, often found at the bases of walls where it receives water run-off.
