Erica arborea Tree Heath

A large bushy, evergreen heather that is native to the Mediterranean which produces masses of small, fragrant white flowers in spring. It has been cultivated in Britain since the 18th  Century and was first recorded wild in 1972 on the Isle of Man. It is rarely found naturalised but is sometimes encountered as a garden throw-out or relic of cultivation. It is rare in West Glamorgan and all records are probably garden plants.
