Erodium lebelii Sticky Stork's-bill

A small, annual stork's-bill that grows in well-drained, usually open coastal sites such as sand dunes. It is similar to Common Stork's-bill (Erodium cicutarium) but rarely taller than 20cm (and often less than 15cm tall), with smaller flowers whose sepals and stalks are densely covered in sticky, glandualr hairs. It is a rather scarce species in Britain overall mostly occuring in coastal areas in the west. It is listed in the rare plants registers of many of the vice counties in which it is recorded, including Glamorgan (VC 41). It is an occasional species of coastal sand dunes in West Glamorgan, widely distributed but rarely occuring in large numbers and far less common than Common Stork's-bill with which it often grows.
