Rorippa sylvestris Creeping Yellow-cress

A distinctive, perennial yellow-cress with a sprawling growth form, toothed, pinnate leaves and relatively showy flowers whose petals are longer than the sepals. It is a characteristic species of shingle beds along the edges of rivers but it also occurs in other wet places or in ruderal habitats where it is a pioneer species. It is widespread and locally common throughout much of Britain but much more local in West Glamorgan where it is largely a riparian species in the shingle along the Neath and upper Tawe rivers.
