Trifolium scabrum Rough Clover

A prostrate, winter-annual clover with small heads of tiny white flowers whose stiff, sepal teeth curve outwards at the fruiting stage. It is largely a coastal species in Britain usually occuring on dry, calcareous and often sandy soils. It is widespread and almost contiunally represented along the coast of West Glamorgan, growing on limestone, in dunes as well as in skeletal habits such as pavements and car parks, but with very few inland records.
