L.
A low-growing, perennial speedwell that grows in well-drained, low nutrient soils which may be acidic or basic, but often in heathland or dry grassalnd (including calcareous grassland), on leached soils and also on anthills. It has hairy stems and leaves and produces erect spikes of attractive lilac flowers in summer. It is common and widespread in Britain and Ireland and it is found throughout West Glamorgan, mostly (but not exclusively) on heathy, acidic soils, particularly in the uplands of the South Wales Coalfield in Neath Port Talbot.
