(L.) Gray
A common, annual grass which grows on dry, well-drained sandy or gravelly soils, especially on disturbed waste ground, pavements, roadsides and in open mosaic sites. It is the most common Vulpia species in Britain, found throughout the southern half of Britain and much of Ireland, but is less common in the north. It is very common in Wales and is widespread in West Glamorgan but absent from much of Gower away from the coast and is scarce in many parts of the South Wales Coalfield. However, it is often abundant along the gritty edges of forest roads in Neath Port Talbot, frequently growing with Rat's-tail Fescue (Vulpia myuros).
