Geoglossum fallax Deceptive Earthtongue

A common earthtongue in the short turf of unimproved, usaully acidic grasslands, including lawns that are not fertilised. It is generally smaller than Geoglossum cookianum and not so strongly associated with coastal habitats. The paraphyses are longer than the ascus and often curved or coiled at their tips. It is widespread and fairly common in West Glamorgan but under recorded.
