A relatively small milcap with a dark brown cap, usually about 2-4 cm in diameter and a darker, vinaceous-brown stalk. It is frequent species of oak woodland but there are surprisingly few records of it in West Glamorgan where it is probably under recorded. One of its distinguishing features is its spicy, curry-like smell, which is most obvious in dry specimens.
