Leccinum scabrum Brown Birch Bolete

A common bolete of birch woodland that usually has a brown cap which my be a pale straw colour, yellowish brown or a more richer, darker brown, sometimes becoming more olive-brown with age. The pale coloured pores become dark brown when bruised. It is, perhaps, the most common bolete in West Glamorgan and ubiquitous under birch.
