Mycena galericulata Common Bonnet

Bonet (y) Coed

(Scop.) Gray

A relatively large bonnet with a grey-brown cap up to 2cm or more in diameter. A good field character is the presence of prominent tranverse connecting veins between the gills which can sometimes be seen from above through the translucent striate cap. It is a common species that frequently occurs in groups on decaying logs, sometimes on buried wood. It is frequent in deciduous and coniferous woodland in West Glamorgan.
