Usnea dasopoga Fishbone Beard Lichen

A fairly conspicuous beard lichen with a long, yellow-green thallus, more than 3 times longer than wide, which hangs down. The long hanging branches have a fishbone-like appearance. It does not have the swollen (string-of-sausage) branches that are produced by Usnea articulata and it is not as long as that species. It is widepsead in the uplands of West Glamorgan often occuring on larch but is is not as common as Usnia cornuta which is much smaller and more bushy.
