Capsella bursa-pastoris Shepherd's-purse

Chwilotwr Llogell

(Linnaeus) Medikus

A common and familiar weed of pavements, gardens, arable fields and waste places in general. The common name refers to the small, triangular, purse-like seed pods, similar in shape to the pouches carried by herdsmen. It is widespread and common in the lowlands and urban areas of West Glamorgan and a typical member of the urban street flora, but relatively scarce in the uplands. It is quite abundant in the seabird colonies on the cliffs of Worm's Head.
