Carex divulsa subsp. divulsa Grey Sedge

Grey Sedge is in mainly a plant of open grassland, waste ground and roadside verges in West Glamorgan. It avoids strongly acidic sites, but otherwise it is largely indifferent to soil reaction. It has a scattered distibution in West Glamorgan and appears to be increasing in abundance and occurrence in roadside verges, including those along forest roads. It has a longer inflorescence with well-separated spikelets, unlike those of Spiked Sedge (Carex spicata) and Many-leaved Sedge (Carex diviulsa ssp leersii), whose inflorescences are more congested.
