Chenopodium polyspermum Many-seeded Goosefoot

A usually much branched, prostrate or decumbent annual, with square, red stems and long-oval, entire, untoothed, pointed leaves and dense, leafy inflorescences which produce an abundance of black seeds. It grows in disturbed habitats, waste places and as a weed in gardens, flower beds and allotments. It may have expanded its range northwards and westards in Britain in recent years but it is still relatively uncommon in West Glamorgan with surprisingly few records.
