Euphrasia nemorosa Common Eyebright

A common eyebright of mesotrophic grasslands, heathland, dunes and upland pastures and moorland. It hybridises with other common eyebrights such as Confused Eyebright (Euphrasia confusa) and Arctic Eyebright (Euphrasia arctica) and some populations and hybrid swarms can be difficult to identify with certainty; Metherell and Rumsey (2018) have suggested that these three species represent a single outbreeding group. Until fairly recently it was not consistently differentiated from Arctic Eyebright and the status and distribution of both in West Glamorgan is not clear. The leaves of Common Eyebright are more narrowly ovate, particularly on the lower parts of the shoot and the flowers are usually smaller.
