Geranium columbinum Long-stalked Crane's-bill

A fairly distinctive annual crane's-bill with pink flowers that are larger than those of Cut-leaved Cran's-bill (Geranium dissectum) and on longer stalks. It is a species of dry grasslands, mostly in lowland locations, especially on calcareous or base-rich soils, as well as sand dunes, cliffs, scrubby slopes. It has declined significantly in parts of England largely as a result of habitat loss but it may be increasing its range in lowland parts of Wales. It has a local, largely coastal distribution in West Glamorgan, mostly in calcareous habitats in Gower, but perhaps becoming more common on sand dunes and in coastal open mosaic habitats in Neath Port Talbot.
