Linnaeus
A variable, usually rather small, annual (sometimes perennial) with neat, rounded leaves dissected into lobes and small pink (rarely white) flowers with notched petals and ten stamens, all with functional anthers. It is a species of open grassy and skeletal habiitats including sand dunes, open mosaic hanitats, rocky and gravelly habitats, lawns, pavements and urban waste places where it can sometimes be quite robust. It is a common species in Britain with a widespread, mostly lowland distribution. It is common in coastal habitats of West Glamorgan, particularly in dune grasslands and is often abundant in open mosaic habitats. It also occurs iinland in habitats such as coal tips, deralict sites and sparingly in the gravelled margins of forest roads.
