Malcolmia maritima Virginia Stock

Murwyll Arfor

(Linnaeus) R.Br.

An attractive annual crucifer with lilac, pink or white flowers that has been cultivated in gardens for over 300 years and was first recorded in the wild in Britain in 1858. It flowers profusely and it is occasionally found in waste places and on refuse tips, but it is usually casual and it  rarely persists. It is sometimes included in wild flower mixtures. There are few records of it outside gardens in West Glamorgan, mostly in the Swansea area.
