Oenanthe fistulosa Tubular Water-dropwort

A greyish-green, stoloniferous perennial umbellifer with inflated, hollow stems bearing 2-pinnate roots leaves and narrow, 1-pinnate filamentous leaves on the upper parts. The small umbels have two or three thick rays that support well-spaced dome-shaped heads of small pinkish-white flowers. It grows in wet places such as fens, ditches, grazing marshes and levels and in emergent communities at the edges of water bodies. It has declined greatly in Britain in the last 70 years as a result of habitat losses due to drainage and agricultural improvement and is on the rare plant registers of many counties where it was formerly more abundant. It has a predominantly southeastern distribution in Britain and is uncommon in Wales. It is uncommon in Glamorgan as a whole and rare in West Glamorgan with just a few records from Margam Moors and Morfa Fen where its occurrences are rather unpredicatble form year to year
