Ranunculus auricomus Goldilocks Buttercup

Blodyn-Ymenyn Peneuraid

L.

A perennial buttercup which grows in deciduous woodlands, usually on basic soils. Reproduction is apomictic so there is much variation in the morphology of local populations. It is found throughout much of England and southern Scotland ans also in Ireland, but it is very scarce in Wales. It is rare in West Glamorgan with just one reliable record made in 1981 by Andrew Lack in the limestone woodlands of Green Cwm, Gower. It is more common in parts of the Vale of Glamorgan.
