Straw Fibrecap is a species of deciduous forest and scrub, with a preference for calcareous sites. The ochre-yellow cap is quite distictive as is its honey-like smell. In West Glamorgan it has been recorded in woodland scrub in coastal sites on sandy soils and it is probably under recorded in the county.
