Inocybe rimosa Split Fibrecap

Cap Ffibr Hollt

(Bull.) P. Kumm.

Inocybe rimosa (Pseudosperma rimosum), Split Fibrecap, is widespread and common in Britain and West Glamorgan. It is frequently encountered in coastal woodlands on sand dunes. The ochre cap with longtitudinally fibrillose (rimose) streaks give it a very distinctive look, but it is quite variable in form and perhaps best treated as an aggregate of speciescoloured At first the cap is usually sharply conical or dome-shaped and then flattens out with a prominent central umbo as it matures. It has a strong spermatic odour. Notable microscopic charcters include the large spores which are 12 -15 microns long and the clavate and sometimes bottle-shaoed cheilocysydia which are 30-65 microns in length.

Also known as Pseudosperma rimosum (Bull.) Matheny & Esteve-Rav.
