Cortinarius decipiens

Cortinarius decipiens is a small to medium sized webcap with a broadly umbonate, brown cap which has conspicuous patches of white veil along its margins. The dry cap has an attractive two tone appearance with a darker centre. The pale greyish stem often has a violet flush at its apex and it has a faint citrus-like smell. It is a very common species of broad-leaved woodlands and particularly in birch-willow scrub but also with oak.
