Melanelixia subaurifera Abraded Camouflage Lichen

A common foliose lichen with an olive-brown thallus (more greenish when wet) and usually quite broad, rounded lobes which often wrap themselves around the twigs and branches of deciduous trees. It can be quite camouflaged and sometimes difficult to pick out where it grows, hence its common name. Patches of dot-like soralia and less distinct isisdia occur on the thallus surface. It is frequent with a scattered distribution in West Glamorgan.
