Placopsis lambii Pink Bull's-eye Lichen

A pinkish-grey crustose lichen with a thallus made up of irregular, radiating lobes and tiny 'islands' in the centre. Reproduction occurs via apothecia or soredia. It is one of few lichens that have both cyanobacteria and green algae as phycobonts. It is uncommon in West Glamorgan and confined to acidic, metal-rich siliceous boulders in high rainfall areas in the uplands. All records of Placopsis gelida ((L.) Linds) in West Galmorgan are probably referable to this species
