Centaurea debeauxii Chalk Knapweed

The exact status of Centaurea debeauxii in West Glamorgan is uncertain. This species, formerly known as Centaurea nigra ssp. nemoralis, has been widely recorded (see distribution map) but confusion with Centaurea nigra and the intermediates that occur between them has become evident. It is more a species of dry calcareous grassland than Centaurea nigra (sensu stricto).
