Filago minima Small Cudweed

A small greyish, annual cudweed with thin stems that bear small adpressed leaves and often branched in the upper half. It grows in sandy, gravelly, skeletal and coal tip habitats where it can sometimes occur in large numbers. It has been lost from many areas of Britain as a result of habitat loss or late successional changes, but it is locally common in south Wales. In West Glamorgan it is frequently found on coal tips and on stony or gravelly ground along forest roads and in quarries, particularly in upland areas of the South Wales Coalfied in Neath Port Talbot.
