Hypericum tetrapterum Square-stalked St John's-wort

An upright, often unbranched, shortly rhizomatous St John's-wort with square, distinctly winged stems that produce starry yellow flowers and whose leaves have lots of translucent dots. It is a common species of seasonally flooded areas and wet or damp places such as marshy grassland, ditches, dune slacks, fens and the margins of pools and other water bodies. It is almost ubiquitous in Britain and Ireland, common in Wales but absent from the highlands of Scotland. It is widespread and common in suitable habitats throughout West Glamorgan and often abundant in ditch habitats along forest roads.
