Rorippa palustris Marsh Yellow-cress

An annual, biennial or short-lived perennial, similar to Northern Yellow-cress (Rorippa islandica) and often confused with it, but usually with a more upright growth form . Our determinations are based on the structure and configuration of the fruit capsules which are usually about the same length as their stalks and rarely as much as twice as long  (see photo and for comparison, see description of Rorippa islandica). It is a plant of seasonally-flooded ground, wet and muddy places besides pools and near ditches along forest roads. It is common and widespread throughout much of Britain and it has been recorded in scattered loactions throughout West Glamorgan.
