The cap is a grey-brown or a grey-ochre colour with fibrillose, radial streaks, up to 70mm in diameter and with a conspicuous, broad or somewhat pointed umbo. The gills are moderately spaced, white at first, becoming more pink with age. The stem is white and sometimes slightly yellowish at the base.
