Hebeloma vaccinum - © Charles Hipkin
Romagn.
A small Hebeloma with a convex or domed, dark brown cap (sometimes paler towards the margins and bicoloured) and large spores (11-14 microns) which have a strong violet reaction with Melzer's iodine. It grows with willows in boggy woodland and in dune slacks with Creeping Willow (Salix repens). It is widespread in Britain but there are only a few coastal records of it West Glamorgan where it is probably under recorded.
