Dianthus deltoides Maiden Pink

Ceian

L.

A shortly and softly-hairy, branched, perennial pink with greyish-green foliage. It produces solitary, deep-pink flowers which have serrated petals that are freckled with pale spots. It is a plant of dry grasslands, including roadside verges. It has a scattered distribution throughout Britain but is has been lost from many of its native habitats. It may well be native in some parts of south Wales but plants that occur in roadside verges in West Glamorgan  are probably derived from wildflower seed introduction.

Native in some parts of Britain but also neophyte
